In Memory of
William Bingham Cleveland, M.D.
March, 1918 to May, 2008

Dr. Cleveland fell in love with motorcycles early on; in the early 1940's he rode his Indian motorcycle through the courtyard of the nurses' dormitories at Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, with the house mother flapping her arms and stating, "Dr. Cleveland, Dr. Hancock, you can't do that." (Story verified at memorial service by a classmate, and verified several years ago by a new acquaintance who overheard "doctor" and "motorcycle" and asked if he were the doctor who rode through the courtyard while she was a nursing student in the 1940's.) Dr. Cleveland rode his motorcycle to Mexico soon afterwards. He loved being involved in the Antique Motorcycle Club of America, hosting the Medina, Ohio Meet from approximately 1966 to 1979. He enjoyed buying, selling, and trading motorcycles, including the last three and a half years as some of his favorite motorcycles were sold; he derived satisfaction from the recent appreciation of the motorcycles, parts and other collectibles in his collection, an appreciation that he knew some day would come. He would have enjoyed watching the e-Bay sale of his literature this summer.
Dr. Cleveland was known for his bowties, sense of humor, and kindness. He will be missed.
